Doors

Superyacht Doors are very complicated pieces of equipment, they serve several purposes and have to adhere to very strict guidelines as laid down by various flag states. Not only do doors act as a means to open or close off (privacy) an individual area on-board a yacht, a door also functions as a firewall, a bulkhead to prevent flooding of a compartment, a smoke containment device, a sound insulator and I am sure other uses or reasons for use can be found. A modern superyacht door has to undergo testing that will prevent the passage of fire, heat and smoke for specific periods of time to be approved and also how a door opens is open to regulation. Of course the doors to a modern superyacht tender garage or any hull fitting door will have to have their own safety rules incorporated into its design.
